I have really enjoyed this class this semester I received way more out of this experience than I every dreamed. The standard three assigment taught me a number of important things. The most important thing I learned was the classroom copyright laws. For example, I did not know that teachers are not permitted more than 10% of work or 1,000 words from and article, story, or essay. Another interesting thing I learned was that if a teacher is given a sinlge user copy of a computer program that he or she may not download it on a whole classroom full of computers. I believe things like this happen everyday because people do not read the fine print on copyrighten items. This assignment also addressed safety and health in addition to securtiy and privacy. One thing about safety I learned from the article was it is imparitive to make sure students have assigned seats before they enter into a classroom especially in a computer lab. If children are fighting over seats than they can make a much bigger problem that invovles the whole class. For instance, if they began fighting they could knock the computers down and damage the whole network. Another important things I learned was that it is important to keep childrens personal infomation private because it could get a number of people in trouble. When teachers do not protect there students grades it could lead to the childs parents getting invovled, the principal of the school, the school board, as well as the child who broke the rules guardian. So therefore, I learned it is much easier to make sure that anything personal is put away and that students should not be left alone in the classroom by themselves.
This assignment was very enlightening there are a few things I plan to use in my classroom. The most important thing I know I will use in the classroom is the Copyright and FairUse Guidelines. Prior to taking this class I was familiar with any copyright laws in the classroom however this assignment really opened my eyes. I am extremely glad I was introduce to these copyright laws to avoid any legal issues. One of my goal is to become a reading teacher and I have a number of things from books, stories, articles, and essays that I want to share with the students and I will be able to do this acurately because I have the guidelines. Another thing I received from the article was to always have a back up lesson in case something goes wrong in the classroom. This article helped me see that being prepared is the key to sucess. When I have obtained my own classroom I will make sure my lessons are organized andIalways have a plan B because the students tend to lose focus when things are not organized. This assignment touched on a lot of issused I may encounter when I become a teacher and I am glad that I was given this assignment to better prepare myself for the future.
